Greek Macedonian Bronze Votive Ring of Philip II as Zeus ca. 4th Century BC. Found in Amphipolis some years ago, this ring, which portrays Philip II as Zeus, is a votive ring, which was left in a temple or at an altar. It was most likely created in the time of Philip or possibly Alexander. Though this ring is an unrecorded type, a few rings of this size are known. The finger size would be approximately size forty-five, the average man would wear a size ten. The ring has an excellent glossy green patina and is, to say the least, a very exciting Hellenistic antiquity. Ex Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. 140th Buy or Bid Sale, 27 October 2004, lot 639.
