Roman Oil Lamp with Symposium Scene ca. 1st half of 2nd Century AD. On the discus, a symposium scene, male playing the aulos or double flute before a reclined male. The symposium, "to drink together" was a part of a banquet that took place after the meal, when drinking for pleasure was accompanied by music, dancing, recitals, or conversation. Minor restoration. Wieclaw Collection. L. 3 1/4" W. 2 7/8" (8.3 cm x 7.3 cm).
