Syrian Terracotta Oil Lamps ca. 450-600 AD. Pointed oval lamp with wide filling-hole and double raised rim. A version of a common inscription 'the Light of Christ shines for all,' appears on the shoulder. The nozzle top is decorated with what could be a stylized menorah (see "Catalogue of the Lamps in the British Museum", Bailey, pg. 288.) Single base ring. Exact lamps not available, nearly identical types will be shipped. L. 4" approximate. Varies by piece.
