Elamite Bronze Axe Head ca. Late 3rd-early 2nd Millennium BC. Unusual type produced of cast bronze with curved shaped blade. Possibly used as a chisel and unlike the typical axe heads of the period. Eight registers of incised geometric patterns cover the shaft. Entire piece has a reddish-brown patina with areas of heavy green encrustation. Mounted. L. 4 1/4" (10.8 cm).
