Islamic Mixed Metal Tray

Item 10 of 41

Islamic Mixed Metal Tray ca. 1900 AD. This is an unusually fine example of Mamluk inspired Islamic metalwork, often called Cairo-ware in its later touristy 20th century forms. This very well executed piece was most likely made in Damascus and is an exquisite example of mixed-metal inlay and Islamic ornament. The central image depicts a star, radiating outward, surrounded by a circular register of Koranic script. Dia. 13" (33 cm).
