Attic Red-Figure Pelike ca. 450-430 BC. Obverse with Dionysus and satyr.
Dionysus seated and draped, a thyrsus leaning against
left shoulder, arm extending between legs, wearing a white
headband. Bearded satyr standing nude, leaning on
staff with right hand and arm pointing to Dionysus. Band of ovules above and below the scene. Reverse
with two facing females, draped, both with white
headbands. Similar band of ovules above and below
figures as Obverse. Small hole by handle neatly
repaired, otherwise intact. Provenance: Private Collection, Oregon, acquired 1980s. H. 8.1" W. 5.9" D.5.2" (H. 20.6 cm, W. 15.0 cm, D. 13.1 cm).
