Plat of Subdivision of Block 44 Sheffield’s Addition to Chicago

This plat of Block 44 of Sheffield’s Addition to Chicago shows one large parcel of land divided

into eight smaller lots with the intention of becoming separate blocks. The four avenues dividing

them would later be named Wayne, Lakewood, and Magnolia (from left to right) and Schubert

(running east and west). The block was located in the town of Lakeview, whose embossed seal

can be seen in the lower left corner.

Condition:

Contemporary folding with some crinkling at top left. Minor loss along the bottom

edge and in the lower portion of the seal. Ink stamp and script on the verso.
